TASK 1
PART 1
UNPACK 'TOOLS FOR CONVIVIALITY' (1973) by Ivan Illich
*minimum 500 words*
For your first task you will read, study and analyse a selected chapter from Ivan Illich's book "Tools for Conviviality". We advise you to extract key concepts, quotes or information to include and examine in a 500 words written composition to include in your individual Resource Webpage. You can decide to analyse a specific paragraph which was particularly interesting to you, or you can analyse the whole chapter. Focus on clarifying what you believe it is important to "take away" from the chapter and why. You will discuss your analysis of Illich's theories in a reading group session on our next meeting on the 3.11.20. Please ensure your written analysis is constructed into your webpage and starts connecting to your research question

PART 2
START DEVELOPING YOUR RESOURCE PAGE (on Hotglue)
Part of the first task for the CC dissertation group will be to develop a simple collage hotglue webpage which starts collecting material, content, links, videos, writings, quotes etc. connected to a specific subject (aka. the resource) which you would like to share through your dissertation work. Each single CC Resource Webpage created in the group has the potential to become a Knowledge Common in its own right.
The group seeks to advocate better ways to create, disseminate, preserve, organize knowledge as a common resource.
Consider how this page is easy to access, read, understand and unpack - ask yourselves: what is the focus of the page and who is it for?
Examples of knowledge commons are Wikipedia, Creative Commons, Vimeo, Hotglue, Skills Commons, Tribe of Noise and many more.
For what concerns architecture we know Wikihouse for example, or Atlas of Places, but it is up to you to discover more as part of your research.
An example of a resource research page is included in the intro page of this CC website: Scrematura.

PART 1
AN EVOLVING MANIFESTO
*minimum 5 points* (each point with an accompanying 150/200 words statement)
As part of your resource page we ask you to start developing a Manifesto which outlines the principles behind your research question and the subjects you have decided to analyse. The points shouldn't be questions but declarations of an intention: what do you believe your dissertation should be about and what is its use. The Manifesto is not finalised or written in stone, but should be seen as a tool to help you commit to specific themes.
The accompanying statement, which you will write for each point, should help us understand the point and the context around it.
The Manifesto is to be uploaded on your resource page (as pdf or main landing page)
Example: Spatial Practice Manifesto

TASK 2
PART 2
DEVELOP YOUR RESOURCE INTO A KNOWLEDGE COMMON
You have now started identifying your resource by producing a collage of key questions, videos, images, texts and more. At this stage we ask you to be more specific and selective and really "curate" your webpage so it is easy to navigate. You should include a number of sections:
- Your Manifesto. You might decide to start from your Manifesto or is something which you slowly introduce.
Ensure you clearly unpack your manifesto trough the written statements
- A Critical picture. This can be a summary of your updated mind map, the images, videos and links you have selected and the key questions you are
asking yourself through this dissertation work
- A collection of titles key to your research. This section of writings will grow and evolve and will slowly become more specific.
For each title please include two lines explaining why you are interested in this specific text.

Deadline:
Both tasks will need to be completed by MONDAY 16th NOVEMBER 2020 at 5pm
