Chapter 5 _ Political Inversion

Starting with how non reasonable and in effective control over the tools that people use, the generations coming forth could face gruesome problems. Ivan outlines the basic nature of the growth and development back in 1973 to eventually place people in a position, where it could be a trivial issue to make wiser choices for survival. Quoting big brothers while targeting the bureaucratic dictatorships, technocratic caretakers, he clearly establishes the link between how the world view of growth and development were stepping into a wrong direction because of the industrial mindset and political choices. The use of kakotopia portrays how the worsened conditions because of the questionable perspectives will eventually put people in a world which is no different than that of prison. The three possibilities highlighting the enlightenment of people, development of suppressed organisations an using tools to develop a convivial life reflect on his view on the possibility of the world having a better way to tackle the upcoming crises.
His take on the rich societies being destructive consumers clearly highlights the situation of the world where the economic segregation of the masses will be a crucial aspect of the order and structure in the growth of communities. His words on the transformation of a myth to a political one based on these consumers, aligns the ideologies of individuals to that of the masses in a community to portray a crucial understanding of how market monopolies result in political actions. The decisions thus made to shape a system may alter the growth and development of the communities itself.
The most interesting part of this chapter is where Ivan talks about the collapse of the industrial monopoly that may result in the failure of systems. It was intriguing how the situational decisions or actions can sometimes provoke a massive change in a system. As a result, it was understandable of how opposing political parties take advantage of seizing power and control during a crucial moment of crises. Nonetheless, it was thought provoking how he explains the “pie in sky” describing the situation where the controlling entities trying to make changes, make themselves vulnerable and susceptible to the minorities by showing no output. Thus, giving the long existing minorities the opportunity to rise above their status quo and demand more benefits for their services.
Further discussing the insights on crisis, Ivan outlines how a revolution can transform into an institution. It was important as to understand why, because the minorities who are now trying to make reform and changes during the crises will have to learn to make use of their tools and respect their approach to an extent where their point is understood as an egalitarian approach towards their growth as a community for a convivial way of life.
Lastly, to my understanding of this chapter, Ivan tries to outline the factors which may/could have brought change in the convivial growth of communities. His emphasis starting from the breaking industrial monopolies, political reforms to the uprising of the minority groups and lastly bringing down to the sudden change. The impact he was aiming to create was to tell people that having tools and using them to shape communities towards a convivial lifestyle involved every individual and a mass to understand why a convivial way would be more beneficiary for a more sustainable lifestyle. Thus, how the industries and markets could be altered and operated effectively, having each individual to learn to use the tools in order to grow towards a convivial lifestyle.
